Editing your Content Management Settings

As an admin, you’re in charge of setting up some parameters your organisation uses in the Milkymap platform. If you’re adjusting any of these Content Management Settings after your organisation has started using them, it will also impact Milkymaps they’ve created.

Channels

If you edit your Channels by changing the name, the new name will automatically appear in every Milkymap users have added it to. This ensures the channel always remains relevant & comparable in every Milkymap. The connection through Touchpoints remains the same. If as an admin you want to add a completely new Channel, it’s best to add it as a new one instead of altering an existing one, as this edit will impact all Milkymaps that are currently connected to that Channel.

KPIs

The KPI section is available for all users under ‘Content Management’. As an admin however, you can create ‘Our KPIs’, which are available for all users in your organisation’s account to add to their Milkymaps. If you edit any of these KPIs, all changes will be visible in every location where this KPI is used immediately. Find our more about using KPIs here.

Files

Files can not be edited or adjusted after uploading them, so they will remain the same after the initial decision to upload them. Therefore, all Files will remain the same in any locations where they are used, unless you delete them.

Dimensions

Similar to Channels, edits made in this section will impact other users. Changing the name in the corresponding page will lead to automatic changes in all connecting Milkymaps. In the case of Brands, you can also alter the image for this brand, which will change the image across all connected Milkymaps throughout your organisation’s Galaxy account. This way, you can be assured that your Dimensions will always be up-to-date in your Milkymaps.

Custom Lists

Currently two Custom Lists can be created in every account by account admins. The two custom lists will show up in every Insight in the account, as will any adjustments. List title adjustments will show up immediately, as will any name or colour changes in dropdown menu items. Read more about Custom Lists here.

Icons

As an admin, you can not currently alter the Icon Library available in Milkymap. You can view all 700 icons and their default names, but you can not make any edits. This consequently means you can not impact users in your organisation’s account this way.

Personas

The Persona overview is, like the KPI overview, available for all users. As an admin however, you also have the option to create ‘Our Personas’. Any adjustments made in these Personas will automatically reflect in every location where they are used for all users. More information about using Personas can be found here.

Custom Object Names

As an admin, you have the opportunity to label specific platform features with names that match your organisation’s terminology. Any changes made here will show up for all other users in your organisation’s account immediately. In this article, you can find more detailed information regarding Custom Object Names.

Deleting within your Content Management Settings

As a Galaxy account admin, you’ll need to consider the consequences of removing any items in your Content Management Settings after users have started to incorporate them in their work.

Channels

You will not be able to remove any Channels that are connected to Milkymaps, even after confirming the Warning message. If you want to remove a Channel you should first discuss disconnecting it from existing maps with your organisation’s user team.

KPIs

Deleting KPIs from ‘Our KPIs’ will make them unavailable for users in your organisation’s Milkymap Galaxy account. Any places they were previously connected in their Milkymaps, through Widgets or Lanes will now result in a field that reads: ‘Nothing Selected’. Clicking this will open a dropdown menu for users in which all KPIs that are available will be shown, but the KPI you’ve just deleted will not show up any longer.

Files

Deleting Files will remove them from any Milkymaps they have been included in. It will also remove it from the Document Library, so you can not incorporate it by using any Widgets or Lanes.

Dimensions

Deleting any Dimension, like a Customer Segment, Brand, Country, or Product, will remove it from your list under ‘Content Management’. It will remain in the Milkymaps it has been added to, but users will not be able to select it from any dropdown menus in their Milkymaps anymore.

Custom Lists

Deleting a complete Custom Lists or items from the dropdown will result in those being removed from all Insights to which they were added. It’s therefore important as an admin to carefully consider removal, as it will have immediate impact on all Insights.

Icons

As an admin, you can’t delete any Icons from the Icon Library, so this will not impact any users.

Personas

Removing any ‘Our Personas’ you or another admin have created will remove them from the overview for all users. Deleting an ‘Our Persona’ also means it is removed from any locations (Widgets, Lanes) where it is used.

Custom Object Names

If you remove any of the names you’ve customized, they will return to their default name. Removing the custom name could confuse users in your organisation’s account, therefore it’s best to be careful deleting customized names.
